Project Information

The new Connecticut Avenue N.W. project is the third phase of a DDOT-sponsored streetscape upgrade to Connecticut Ave.  The project encompasses a 4-lane 1.1 mile corridor between Dupont Circle and K Street. The street, streetscape, and associated infrastructure improvements are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014. The DDOT right-of-way to be improved includes the roadway and sidewalks including new access doors to businesses along the sidewalks, and upgrades to street lights and utilities.  Work will be coordinated closely with WMATA to be sure access is maintained to bus stops and metro stations.   Located in the Golden Triangle BID, one of the prominent commercial and business corridors within the District, the project’s effects on the area will be closely monitored with daily outreach to area businesses and citizens to be sure that construction efforts are well-planned and as least disruptive as possible.

Project features include:

The contractor will be allowed to work 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday.  Work may be permitted beyond these times with prior notice and approval.  A 72-hour notification will be provided to businesses, residences and stakeholders in this corridor prior to impacts on traffic flow and parking. At least one-lane of traffic in each direction, and access to business on the corridor, will be maintained at all times.
